Vaccination of Dogs and Cats

Vaccinations – Ordinance No. G-10-01

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE VACCINATION OF DOGS AND CATS.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF EASTBOROUGH, KANSAS:

SECTION 1.

The owner of any dog and/or cat aged five (5) months or more harbored in the City of Eastborough shall have such dog and/or cat vaccinated against rabies every three years by a veterinarian, except any dog or cat for which there is a written statement that rabies vaccination would be injurious to the animal because of its age or health. The owner shall:

  1. Have in the owner’s possession the vaccination certificate or Veterinarian’s confirmation at all times; and
  2. Show the vaccination certificate or veterinarian’s confirmation immediately Upon the request of any animal control officer, code enforcement officer or other Authorized person.

Rabies vaccination will be considered current for thirty-six (36) months following the date of vaccination.

SECTION 2.

The penalty for violation of this ordinance shall be not less than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) for a second or successive violation.

SECTION 3.

This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the official city newspaper.
